Restrictions with Using USB Devices for V4 Software

· 2 Minuten Lesezeit

Depending on your work culture, your IT department may restrict or block the use of USB flash drives due to security concerns. Below is a guide on how to use the V4 software without USB devices.

Exporting Inspections

Users are able to export inspections from the F2 devices (and F1 devices running the V4 software) to TDS wirelessly. Visit the Exporting Inspections section for more details.

Additionally, the Export Inspections on Save option will make the device export the inspections automatically after saving them.

Importing Template Revisions

Traditionally, template revisions are written to a USB stick using Desktop Tools and imported to Array Explorer. However, they are also able to be sent wirelessly to the RSWA devices from TDS. Visit this section to learn more.

Updating Array Explorer

This is where the process gets tricky, as the RSWA device needs the EXE installer to update the software. Here are a couple ways around this:

  1. Depending on your network configuration, IT may setup a network drive that the RSWA unit may have access to as a location to place the installers. On the unit, go to Settings -> Windows File Explorer to access the network drive.
  2. In some cases, it could make sense to make a policy exemption for USB drives that are encrypted using a tool like BitLocker.
  3. If USB drives are absolutely blocked for operators, then the updating procedure could be a task strictly reserved for the IT department if they are allowed to use USB drives.

If USB drives are completely blocked and a network drive cannot be setup, contact Tessonics customer support to help perform the software updates.
