Admin Panel

info

This feature has been released for version 4.6.0 and up.

This page was previously called "Settings" when it was first rolled out, but has been renamed to "Admin Panel" since version 4.8.0.

The Admin Panel is only accessible to logged in users of the admin group. It's a place where the server settings and Snapshots can be managed.

In addition to managing tha server-side application settings and the snapshots, this page allows the user to download the application logs for diagnosis and to restart TDS.

note

Testarting TDS might take a while depending on the size of the databases. The users will be redirected to the startup page, notifying the user once TDS is available again.

App Settings

The Settings tab provides a convenient way to access some of the server-side settings.

settings-page

It's a non-comprehensive overview of the server-side application settings. This encompasses all settings which are non-destructive but provide useful benefit to the user.

Note that for the settings to apply correctly, TDS needs to be restarted. Conveniently, the "Restart TDS" button on the settings page can do that, once all changes have been applied.

For a full list of the available options and their behavior, see Configure TDS.

Snapshots

v4.8.0

TDS provides the option to create snapshots and use them to restore template data.

snapshots-page

Snapshots represent the templates data state at a given point in time. They can be used to create and restore backups or to perform a quick save before critical changes that might need to be made undone.

The snapshot contains all TDS data relating to

  • Parts;
  • Welds;
  • Bonds;
  • Part groups;
  • Images;
  • Hotspots;
  • Routes;
  • Route items;
  • Categories;
  • Reasons; and
  • Algorithm presets.

Not included are users or any data relating to inspection reports.

The idea is to have a means to create backups of TDS' template data and restore those in case or accidental deletions or any other unwanted changes. It can also be a way to review inspection plans that have been archived at a later point in time.

When deleting older snapshots, no data except for the backup data is lost. Please keep an eye on the amount of memory occupied by the snapshots. As they contain all part info and images they can become quite large. If TDS messages about limited storage, here and the revisions panel in Desktop Tools are good places to start looking for space.

info

Inspection reports are untouched by the snapshot feature. Loading an older snapshot will still allow you to open current inspection reports. However, if these inspection reports refer to parts/images that don't exist in the older template database, the user won't be able to view the respective images on the report page.
